Join Us

Runway are always on the lookout for new members to take part in our productions both onstage and behind the scenes. We get lots of requests throughout the year from people looking to join us and we've put this page together to try and answer as many of our frequently asked questions.

  • We have auditions twice a year. Usually around January time for our Spring Musical and August/September for our Christmas pantomime. Outside of those windows we don’t usually accept new members.

We always post auditions and updates on our social media channels.

  • Experience is not required to join us. Our only expectation is that you can pass a club audition (see next question).

  • Audition 1 - Club Audition

To join Runway Theatre Company you must pass a club audition. Club auditions are typically held twice a year on the same day as the company auditions for either our Spring Musical or Christmas Pantomime. Our Spring Musical auditions are usually around the end of January and our Pantomime auditions are normally held at the end of August. A typical audition involves singing a song of your choice to a panel of Runway members and our production team.

    Audition 2 - Show Audition

If you pass your club audition you will then be invited to audition for the forthcoming show. We will host an information session before rehearsals start to give you an idea of what the show is about, what kind of people we're looking for (in terms of playing age, voice type, etc...). As our shows are usually very popular, we have an entry audition which will guarantee you a place in the chorus. We will let you know what format this audition will follow. Sometimes we have music and movement workshops but this will vary on the kind of show we're doing.

If you are successful in making it into the show you are eligible to audition for a principal (lead) part in the show. Again, depending on the kind of show and the role requirements will determine what is required for this audition.

  • Please email us - at info@runwaytheatre.co.uk - and let us know how you'd like to help us. We're always happy to hear from anyone who is interested in helping our stage crew, wardrobe, front of house and marketing teams.

We regularly get requests from students looking for work experience in our hair and makeup team. Please email our Principal Makeup Artist, Leigh Blaney at hello@makeup-by-leighblaney.co.uk.

Please note that as we are a community theatre group most roles are unpaid.

  • For legal and insurance reasons you must be aged 16 or over. Occasionally if our shows require it, we invite under 16's to join us with appropriate child protection arrangements - such as chaperones in place.

  • We don't. As long as you're able to sing, dance or act, we welcome all members of the community.

  • We are a community club and all of the money we make is used to pay for our productions, anything left over is reinvested into the club for future productions.

  • Once rehearsals kick off, we'll issue our full rehearsal schedule.

Generally, we rehearse on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons although this may vary from production to production.

  • Our usual rehearsal venue is Clincarthill Parish Church in Mount Florida, very near Hampden Stadium. The Church is directly opposite from the Clockwork Beer Company .You can get frequent trains to Mount Florida from Glasgow Central Station and there are many busses that pass by too.

Occaisionally we also rehearse in Kinning Park Parish Church which is easily accesible by bus and subway (nearest station being Kinning Park).

  • Absolutely. We're always looking for support with a number of activities including helping out backstage, helping out with our front of house team (selling programmes/raffle tickets) and a whole host of other jobs.

Drop us an email if this is you!
